Der junge Fernwanderweg wurde im Jahr 2011 eröffnet und begleitet die Sieg auf einer Streckenlänge von 115km zwischen Siegburg und der Burgruine Windeck bei Sieg. - Die Sieg ist mit 155 km einer der zehn größten Zuflüsse des Rheins und mündet bei Bonn. Das Siegtal erstreckt sich östlich des Rheins und trennt das nördlich gelegene Bergische Land vom Westerwald im Süden. - Der Natursteig führt von Siegburg aus rechts und links der Sieg bis ins Windecker Ländchen auf dem Nutscheid im Sieg-Bergland, beeindruckende Flusslandschaften und herrliche Ausblicke begleiten die Tour. - Burgen und Klöster, alte Kirchen und idyllische Ortschaften liegen am Weg, z.B. das Kloster Seligenthal (erstes Franziskanerkloster nördlich der Alpen), die mittelalterliche Stadt Blankenberg, das Augustinerkloster Merten. - Empfohlene Etappenanzahl 8; rund 6500 Hm im Aufund Abstieg; besonders gute Anbindung ans Schienennetz für Tagesetappen; Markierung ist ein schwungvolles „S“ mit Pfeil auf blauem Grund.
