Description

Starnberger Fünf-Seen-Land - Weilheim - Murnau - Garmisch-Partenkirchen - Kaufbeuren - Schongau -Füssen South of Landsberg am Lech begin the gentle hills of the Pfaffenwinkel, whose name is derived from the somewhat casual term for "pastor". The Paffenwinkel extends roughly between the rivers Lech and Loisach and thus includes parts of the Fünfseenland, the Isarwinkel and the Lechrain. The landscape changes towards the south, the flat land of the Lechfeld slowly transitions into the hilly foothills of the Alps, the farmland gradually disappears and green pastureland increasingly characterizes the landscape. Numerous churches and monasteries in the Bavarian baroque and rococo style run through the lovely landscape, the onion domes tower proudly into the white-blue sky. The most famous of all these places of worship is the Wieskirche. Take a look at the magnificent churches and monasteries or learn more about the special features of the region in one of the numerous museums. Beautiful communities and cities such as Weilheim or Schongau invite you to visit with numerous sights. Also visit the world-famous Passion Play location Oberammergau at the foot of the Ammergau Alps. Be enchanted by the two royal castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau near Füssen and discover the nature reserves Altenauer Moor and Murnauer Moos. The Romantic Road, originally designed for motorized excursion traffic, connects a number of attractive cities with an eventful history and historical city centers. The approximately 496-kilometer cycle route runs from Landsberg to Füssen along the Lech, also right through the Pfaffenwinkel. Other cycle routes that affect this region are primarily the Via Claudia Augusta, the Schlossparkradrunde (in the Allgäu) and the Ammer-Amper cycle path. Cycle paths and routes with information about surface and traffic density. Selected street names. Precise gradient and distance information. Selection of the most important tourist information. Waterproof and tear-resistant paper. Thoroughly researched and permanently updated. With the cartographic route information you can start your trip confidently, because all the necessary information is already compiled for you: road surface (paved or unpaved), traffic density, hill slopes, distance information tourist infrastructure such as inns and lodging establishments, as well as the cultural and scenic attractions of the region.
