Aurich – Dollard – Emden – Harlingerland – Leer – Norden – Wilhelmshaven
Dike crests and flocks of sheep, North Sea wind and Wadden Sea, Fehn canals and park landscapes, cozy Frisian houses and lively cities - you will find all this and much more on the peninsula of Ostfriesland, the north-western part of Germany. Between Oldenburg and the Jade Bay, the Dutch border and the East Frisian Islands, numerous cycle routes invite you to discover this incomparable stretch of land. Between the maritime towns of Emden and Wilhelmshaven, numerous small sluice and harbor towns are lined up like pearls on a necklace. The East Frisian Islands invite you to take a detour from there. Two cycle routes deserve special mention from the large number of signposted cycle paths: The varied circuit of the Frisian route "Rad up Pad" meanders past chieftain's castles, palaces, Windmills and Warfendorfern. In between, you literally experience the landscape: it goes straight through the flat moors and marshes, rather winding over the slightly elevated ridges. Not to forget, of course, the Wadden Sea, which is hidden directly behind the dikes. Always within sight of the sea - or at least the mud flats - you can circumnavigate Ostfriesland on the North Sea Coast Cycle Path.
