Gifhorn – Königslutter a. Elm – Peine – Salzgitter – Wolfenbüttel – Wolfsburg – Naturpark Elm-Lappwald
The Braunschweiger Land is a region in the south-east of Lower Saxony in the northern Harz foothills. It roughly forms the core area of ??the old Duchy of Brunswick and roughly covers the former administrative district of Brunswick. The Braunschweiger Land roughly corresponds to the cities of Braunschweig, Wolfsburg, Salzgitter and at least in part the districts of Gifhorn, Peine, Wolfenbüttel, Goslar and Helmstedt. Today, the Elm-Lappwald Nature Park covers an area of ??470 square kilometers and includes the towns of Helmstedt, Königslutter, Schöningen and Schöppenstedt. Wooded mountain ranges and fertile loess hollows characterize a diverse natural and recreational area. In addition to the variety of landscapes, the Elm-Lappwald Nature Park offers numerous cultural and geological features. In the Elm, Lappwald, Dorm, Elz and Lappwaldsee there is a comprehensively signposted network of paths that invites you to go hiking or cycling. There is also a lot to explore in the immediate vicinity, for example the Autostadt in Wolfsburg, the Mühlenstadt on the Südheide Gifhorn or the historic town centers of Wolfenbüttel and Braunschweig. The old town with its two faces, surrounded by the Oker, can be easily explored from the city center. Light-flooded, covered passages and modern commercial buildings in the pedestrian zone create a charming interaction with historic buildings and streets such as the Burgplatz, the Residenz palace and the Magniviertel, which was restored after the Second World War. The following four are representative of the long-distance cycle paths contained in the map: Aller cycle path, cycle path Berlin-Hameln, Town twinning cycle path Braunschweig-Magdeburg and Weser-Harz-Heide cycle path. In addition to many other regional routes, cycle routes in the tourist region of Altmark, Südheide Gifhorn and in the Elm-Lappwald nature park complete the network of cycle paths.
